Training Required by Flavorman: Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Safe Quality Food (SQF), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP)

 

Summary

 

The Technical Services Quality Technician provides comprehensive support to the Beverage Development Team by assisting with laboratory projects, quality control, equipment maintenance, and daily lab operations. This role requires a detail-oriented, highly motivated individual with strong mathematical skills and, preferably, prior experience in a laboratory or quality-focused environment.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

Food Safety

  • Assist in monitoring and mitigating potential cross-contamination risks in daily laboratory activities.
  • Ensure compliance with SQF standards and internal food safety protocols.

Post-Production Quality Control

  • Receive, document, and organize finished product samples from manufacturing partners.
  • Perform analytical testing on finished products, including but not limited to dissolved gases, fill volume, alcohol content, pH, acidity, dissolved solids, and organoleptic evaluations.
  • Maintain accurate records in quality control logs and databases.
  • Prepare and distribute client reports summarizing analytical results.
  • Identify quality issues, notify the Director of Quality Systems or Production Support Specialist, and assist with troubleshooting as needed.

Beverage Development Team Quality Control

  • Conduct daily analytical quality control testing for outgoing client samples.

Equipment Maintenance

  • Perform scheduled cleaning, maintenance, and calibration checks on all Technical Services analytical equipment.
  • Calibrate equipment daily and as required.
  • Assist team members with proper equipment usage and troubleshooting.

Laboratory Maintenance

  • Support lab inventory management, ensuring adequate stock levels and coordinating replenishment with the Lab Coordination Manager.
  • Maintain a clean, organized laboratory, including daily tasks such as dishwashing, surface sanitation, and routine floor cleaning.
  • Participate in periodic deep-cleaning activities, including refrigerators, freezers, and lab equipment sanitation.

Miscellaneous

  • Assist project leaders and lab technicians with sample batching preparation, including gathering raw materials, coordinating tastings, and processing samples.
  • Support large-scale R&D production efforts as needed.
  • Perform additional laboratory testing under the supervision of the Lab Coordination Manager.
  • Communicate scientific findings clearly through verbal updates and written reports.

 

Qualifications

  • Relevant experience in a laboratory setting required, Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field preferred
  • Technical proficiency with laboratory techniques and equipment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Self-managing
  • Experience in Beverage Manufacturing settings preferred
  • Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds

Physical Demands and Work Environment

 

This is a full-time, on-site position based at the company's headquarters. The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. However, evening and weekend work may be required based on business needs.
