The Supplier Quality Manager will be a key contributor to the quality and supply chain organization and heavily influence the overall quality of the ZincFive family of products. The role will be responsible for ensuring that products and materials sourced from suppliers meet the company's quality standards and regulatory requirements and developing relationships with key suppliers. This position involves developing and implementing quality strategies, conducting audits, driving continuous improvement, and collaborating with suppliers to maintain high quality throughout the supply chain. The person in this role will develop a supplier quality team to support supplier development, process and product improvement. The position may be worked remotely or at ZincFive headquarters in Tualatin, Oregon and reports to the Director of Quality Assurance.
Supplier Quality Manager Job Duties:
- Create, implement, and improve quality assurance strategies and processes for supplier quality management, including developing and documenting a PPAP process
- Conduct regular audits of suppliers to verify compliance with quality standards, regulatory requirements, and contractual obligations
- Develop and manage quality plans in collaboration with suppliers, ensuring products meet specific requirements
- Monitor supplier performance using key performance indicators (KPIs) and quality metrics, identifying trends, and reporting on performance
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain to enhance product quality and address areas for improvement
- Lead investigations into quality issues or defects using root cause analysis techniques and implementing corrective and preventive actions
- Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., procurement, engineering, manufacturing) and suppliers to define requirements, resolve quality issues, and maintain strong relationships
- Work with suppliers to improve their quality management systems, processes, and overall performance through creation of SOP’s, or BKM
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with supplier quality, including potential impacts on production and product safety
- Maintain documentation for supplier quality processes, audits, assessments, and performance metrics
- Provide training and guidance to suppliers on quality assurance practices and procedures
- Build, manage, coach and develop a high performing Supplier Quality team that meets agreed objectives, and which delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements
- Provide leadership, direction, management and development to the Supplier Quality Engineering team
- Set department objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports
- Report on achievement of targets and identify any actions required
- Motivate and coach the team to operational success
- Monitor the completion of tasks and ensure good performance and record on appropriate systems
- Consistently promote high standards through personal example and roll out through the team so that each member of the team understands the standards and behaviors expected of them
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Manufacturing or equivalent years of relevant experience
- 8+ years Supplier Quality Management experience in a manufacturing environment
- 5+ years supervisory or management leadership
- Experienced in Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
- Experienced in product development life cycle management
- Critical thinking, problem solving skills, attention to details, teamwork
- Strong leadership skills and experience in supplier quality management
- A strong understanding of quality management principles, quality control processes, and relevant industry standards (ISO 9001)
- Strong communication, negotiation, analytical skills and interpersonal skills to manage supplier relationships effectively
- Deep understanding of quality management systems, risk management, and supplier auditing
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities including root cause analysis and corrective action implementation
- Strong project management experience
- Data analysis and reporting skills
- Proficient in MS Office Suite
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally, as needed
- Familiarity with industry-specific quality standards and regulatory requirements
Preferred Skills:
- Certified auditor in ISO 14001 and 45001
- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma principles and QMS software
