Job Summary

The Safety Manager has day-to-day leadership and oversight of safety operations across Agile-operated sites. This role is responsible for maintaining comprehensive safety policies and procedures, and as needed, developing and implementing new or improved safety policies and procedures.

The Safety Manager ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations, including OSHA standards, and proactively identifies, mitigates, and eliminates workplace health and safety hazards. Key responsibilities include field safety supervision and conducting inspections, safety training, leading safety meetings, promoting safety awareness, and fostering a strong culture of safety among operations personnel.

This position requires a highly organized professional who can manage multiple projects and competing priorities and consistently delivers results with efficiency and attention to detail. The Safety Manager will collaborate closely with Agile’s cross-functional teams, subcontractors, union crews, and vendors to address safety concerns and support operational and customer needs. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills while ensuring a safe, compliant, and productive work environment.

Job Functions

Safety Oversight & Site Responsibility

   Maintain direct responsibility for safety operations across multiple Agile-operated yards, ensuring consistent implementation of company and customer safety requirements.

   Local travel required

   Provide daily oversight to confirm all safety plans, policies, and procedures are followed at each site.

   Serve as the primary safety point of contact for yard operations, management, and external stakeholders.


Contractor Safety Oversight & Customer Compliance

   Conduct safety inspections, compliance reviews, and safety observations at contractor-operated sites on behalf of Agile customers.

   Interface directly with customer safety representatives, contractor management, and field leadership regarding safety findings, corrective actions, and compliance expectations.

   Document inspection findings, track corrective actions, and verify timely resolution of identified safety concerns.

   Provide professional, solution-oriented recommendations to improve contractor safety performance and regulatory compliance.

   Support customer-driven safety initiatives, audits, and compliance programs across assigned operational sites.


Safety Program Implementation & Training

   Train yard labor teams on the Safety Management Plan, job-specific safety requirements, and applicable company policies.

   Delegate and verify the start-of-shift safety job briefings, ensuring briefings are performed, documented, and effective.

   Conduct monthly safety meetings focused on regulatory compliance, hazard awareness, and ongoing safety training.

   Monitor and measure safety compliance and training effectiveness, tying results to performance metrics for yard personnel.


Hazard Identification & Risk Mitigation

   Proactively identify workplace hazards and ensure all personnel are performing work safely and in accordance with established safety standards.

   Ensure job-specific safety tailboards, safety reminders, and postings are current, accurate, and visibly displayed.

   Address all safety issues that impact personnel safety or present risk or liability to the company.

   Recommend and implement corrective actions to eliminate unsafe conditions or behaviors.

   Regulatory Compliance & OSHA Oversight

   Verify compliance with OSHA regulations, customer safety standards, and Agile’s internal safety policies.

   Provide guidance and recommendations to site leadership to support OSHA compliance and identify areas requiring improvement.

   Ensure safety briefings, safety walks, inspections, and required documentation are completed and maintained as scheduled.


Incident Management & Investigations

    Investigate safety complaints, near misses, accidents, and injuries to determine root causes and corrective actions.

    Ensure incidents are documented accurately and reported in accordance with company and customer requirements.

    Manage document uploads and produce incident closeout reports, reviewing all required documentation prior to submission.

    Ensure all project close-out and incident documentation is uploaded to internal systems and customer-shared platforms in a timely manner.


Audit Management & Continuous Improvement

    Oversee the execution, documentation, and review of internal and external safety audits.

    Host and conduct internal and external audits as required by customers, regulators, or company leadership.

    Draft, implement, and track corrective action plans in response to audit findings to ensure continuous improvement.

    Maintain audit records and ensure timely closure of all identified issues.


Equipment, Vehicle & Material Safety

    Ensure company vehicles and equipment are maintained in safe operating condition in coordination with operations and maintenance teams.

    Conduct material reviews and maintain an up-to-date Safety Data Sheet (SDS) binder accessible to personnel.


Reporting & Communication

    Work closely with the Program Manager to prepare safety status reports for customer contacts and internal leadership.

    Proactively communicate safety concerns, trends, and corrective actions to key internal stakeholders.

    Provide practical, solution-oriented recommendations to prevent recurrence of safety issues and improve overall safety performance.


Job Qualifications

Education, Training & Certifications

    Formal coursework and/or professional training in occupational safety, health, or a related field, with required knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety requirements.

    Demonstrated working knowledge of OSHA and EPA guidelines and their application in operational environments.

    Safety-related certifications:

  • OSHA 30 Required
  • Hazwoper Preferred


Field of Expertise & Experience

    Background in construction yard, logistics yard, and/or warehouse operations strongly preferred.

    Proven experience managing safety programs across multiple sites or yards.

    Demonstrated success developing, implementing, and administering safety programs, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and policies in complex operational environments.

    Experience supporting field operations with direct exposure to labor crews, foremen, contractors, and subcontractors.


Technical & Professional Skills

    Strong working knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations, including OSHA and EPA requirements.

    Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to prepare reports, presentations, and documentation.

    Ability to analyze safety data, audit findings, and incident trends to develop practical corrective actions.

Minimum Education and Experience

    Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent 6 years of experience in a related field

    Experience: 4 years in a safety supervisory role

    OSHA 30 certification
