Job Summary

The Regional Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing and implementing safety programs, DOT compliance and environmental performance across multiple locations within a geographic region.


Key Responsibilities

  • Safety Compliance: Maintain and promote the overall safety cultures of the assigned region. 
    • Applicable federal regulations compliance at all Sims’ facilities and customer sites. 
    • Provide quality assurance to support overall compliance of projects and branch operations as requested 
    • Report observed deficiencies to the appropriate personnel and support corrective action plans. 
    • Provide coaching, guidance, and direction to employees and/or contractors on safe work practices and operational efficiency. 
    • Conduct daily and monthly safety meetings and toolbox talks. 
  • Rapid Response: Coordination of incidents arising within an assigned region: 
    • On-scene response to all critical incidents. 
    • Remote response to incidents when appropriate. 
    • Gather and compile supporting documentation and distribute to appropriate personnel. 
    • Communicate with law enforcement when necessary. 
    • Transport employees to medical facilities and/or drug/alcohol testing. 
  • Environmental Compliance: Responsible for supporting environmental compliance of environmental regulations.  
    • Deliver training to employees. 
    • Support the response to environmental incidents at Sims’ facilities or job sites.  
    • Develop and implement corrective actions in response to RCA’s. 
  • Quality Control 
    • Document and report on quality and safety issues, investigations, and outcomes. 
    • Provide recommendations on enhancing workflows, systems, or operations to boost efficiency, effectiveness, and overall performance.  
    • Evaluate and track training program effectiveness to ensure content achieves Company-wide safety goals, standards, and metrics.

 

Qualifications

Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of FMCSA regulations.  
  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA regulations.  
  • Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations.  
  • Driver training and development experience.   
  • Ability to develop and improve operational compliance strategies.  
  • Permitting and registration experience.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business or a related field, from an accredited college or university OR AA/AS degree with 3 years of experience in Safety Compliance or related field OR 5 years of experience in Safety Compliance or a related field.  
  • 5 years of experience in Safety Compliance and/or DOT industry. 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent. 
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in conducting training. 
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (Preferred). 
  • High School Diploma or equivalent 
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. 
  • Must be able to read, speak, and understand English.
