Requirements

Summary:

Member of the Quality team. Inspection and sampling of raw materials, in process material, and finished products. Review, basic root cause investigation, and disposition of metal placed on hold for quality defects. Perform capability studies on processes and equipment. Perform process inspections and audits to ensure compliance with established standards and expectations. Work closely with Production, Lab, Quality Engineers, and Process Engineers to assist in root cause analysis, implementation of corrective actions, and continuous improvement. Cross train in core QC Lab tasks and act as a backup to ensure constant coverage and support.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Adherence to safety requirements (Safety Directives / Procedures, PPE use, safety observations, etc.).
  • Verification and replacement of handheld calibrated measurement devices
  • Support Process and Quality engineers in Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action implementation for nonconformances as requested
  • Perform Internal Audits, write audit findings, and lead discussions at Audit Closing Meetings.
  • Attend and participate in periodic meetings with Operations, Quality, and Maintenance.
  • Participate on various Production and Quality Teams.
  • Manage workload; recognize changing priorities and RCPI needs.
  • Support and participate in Continuous Improvement processes.
  • Additional duties as directed by Supervision

Mill Support

  • Create disposition of Non-compliant Product.
  • Inspection of in process material.
  • Support operators in troubleshooting equipment issues leading to nonconforming product.
  • Sampling and inspection of incoming raw material.
  • Monitors Key Process Variables for conformance to standard and makes recommendation on corrective action.
  • Reviews and Modifies Job Instructions, Quality Assurance Plans, JIB’s, etc. within Revere Document Control System.
  • Use of Process Deviations to track and control experiments or variations in prescribed processes.
  • Regular process and behavioral observations to verify compliance with the documented standards.
  • Performs Capability and Control Statistical Studies with guidance.
  • Uses various diagnostic equipment and tools to monitor different Process Parameters. (dimensional gauging tools, thermometric devices, process data recording devices, hand-held tools, hand-held Profilometers, etc).
  • Assist in the validation of quality systems (MSA/Gage R&R studies)
  • Support QC lab and supervision as required (be able to support work of direct reports, key points of which are written below.)

Lab support

  • Receive samples and log receipt in a timely manner.
  • Prepare samples for testing using heavy equipment (shears, band saws, lathes, sanders, grinders and vertical milling machines).
  • Perform routine tests in accordance with standard operating procedures using a variety of analytical and mechanical test equipment (spectrometers, tensile testers, microscopes, burets, pH meters, etc.).


Qualifications:

  • Skills to work with heavy machine tools – milling, lathes, saws, shears, routers, etc.
  • Excellent Analytical and Problem Solving skills.
  • Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills
  • Aptitude to understand on the job hazards.
  • Ability to learn and perform analytical chemistry tasks / metallurgical testing tasks, and other routine lab testing tasks.
  • Skilled in Math and use of precision measuring equipment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools, in particular in Microsoft Word, PowerBI, and Excel.


Special Demands:

  • Exposure to Corrosive and volatile process Chemicals
  • Lifting/Handling of various process and product samples that may have sharp edges or burrs
  • Extremities of Heat/Cold mill environments; possible dusty/smoky environments; loud noise environments
  • Off-shift and weekend work will be periodically required.
  • Walking long distances to various locations within the mill.
  • Dusty conditions.
  • Climbing/Descending Stairs and Ladders within the mill and offices.
  • Exposure to mobile equipment and overhead cranes
  • Standing for long periods
  • Proximity to moving machinery
  • Lifting of items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Infrequent travel to customers/suppliers/training events.


Education / Training:


Minimum:

  • 1 to 3 years of experience working as a Lab or Quality Technician in manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products


Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with prior applicable work experience.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification
  • Knowledge of APQP methodology


Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • 7:30 am - 3:30 pm
