We are looking for an experienced and responsible Safety Officer to join our team. As a Health & Safety Coordinator you will be responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing company’s employee health and safety at work. You are to ensure that the company complies and adheres to OSHA, EPA, and DOT guidelines. Your main goal will be to always ensure safe working environment and prevent any injuries and accidents.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement OHS policies and programs.
- Develop and maintain management information system which identify the location of hazardous materials and hazardous wastes in the facility.
- Supervise outside contractors involved in testing, transporting, and treating of hazardous wastes and hazardous materials.
- Maintain accurate records of chemical inventory and shipments of hazardous wastes (chain of custody, manifest).
- Develop and implement programs needed to comply with local, state, and federal government agencies related to hazardous materials and hazardous wastes regulations.
- Advise, train, and lead employees on various safety-related topics.
- Prepare educational seminars and webinars on a regular basis.
- Review, revise and implement safety policies, procedures, and company handbook.
- Ensure adherence to the safety rules and regulations for all employees.
- Work with HR to set up a new employee on-boarding process for safety.
- Conduct company and departmental risk assessments.
- Enforce preventative measures relating to safety and regulatory requirements.
- Identify process bottlenecks within safety related functions and offer timely solutions.
- Prepare and present safety reports on accidents and violations, while working with other departments to determine root-causes.
- Facilitate emergency drills to gauge department and employee readiness.
- Consult with management regarding the implementation of safety procedures.
- Assist HR in the processing of workers compensation documentation requirements.
- Oversee the use of dangerous chemicals and machinery.
