The Safety Specialist is a field-first role responsible for reinforcing safety execution, driving consistency in basic safety practices, and increasing visibility across job sites. This position bridges the gap between safety standards and field performance by working directly with technicians, supervisors, and operations leadership to ensure expectations are understood, applied, and sustained.

Conduct routine jobsite visits across multiple locations and regions
Reinforce adherence to JHAs, PPE requirements, and pre-task planning
Observe work practices and provide real-time coaching to technicians and supervisors
Support and participate in toolbox talks and field safety discussions
Assist with onboarding of new hires, ensuring safety expectations are understood and applied in the field
Follow up on incidents and near misses to ensure corrective actions are implemented and sustained
Identify gaps in execution and communicate trends to Safety and Operations leadership
Support delivery and reinforcement of safety onboarding programs
Assist in maintaining consistency in training practices across locations
Reinforce application of training standards in the field, not just completion
Partner with Operations to ensure new hires are set up for safe work practices
Support management of compliance platforms (Avetta, ISNetworld)
Assist with OSHA logs, EMR documentation, and required reporting
Maintain certification tracking and support audit readiness
Assist with documentation of incidents, observations, and corrective actions
Support KPI tracking and reporting in alignment with Safety Director expectations
Support implementation and adoption of HCSS Safety platform
Reinforce use of digital tools for JHAs, observations, and incident reporting in the field
Ensure accurate and timely data entry to support visibility and accountability
Provide feedback on system usage and opportunities for improvement

Qualifications & Experience
3β5+ years of experience in construction safety or related field
Experience working in field-based environments (multi-site preferred)
Working knowledge of OSHA standards and safety best practices
Strong communication skills with the ability to coach and influence in the field
Ability to work independently and travel frequently
Preferred Qualifications:
OSHA 500 and/or OSHA 501 certification
CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician) or similar certification
First Aid/CPR certification
Experience with safety management systems (e.g., HCSS or similar platforms)
Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Frequent travel (approximately 70β75%) across multiple job sites and regions
Work performed in outdoor construction environments and active job sites
Ability to stand, walk, climb, and work in physically demanding conditions
Exposure to varying weather conditions and construction-related hazards
