DescriptionThis includes ensuring that work is performed in accordance with standard operating procedures, conducting training, conducting investigations and audits, preparing reports, managing workplace injuries and injured employees, interacting with medical practitioners. This position is also responsible for advising supervisors on Safety related standards and issues, to assist in ensuring that work is performed safely and in compliance with company, client, and legal requirements with respect to safety issues. The Regional Safety Manager may be asked to provide support to other Health & Safety functions such emergency management, occupational health and industrial hygiene efforts, and safety systems data initiatives.
ResponsibilitiesPosition Responsibilities
- Provide safety support, training, and case management services for assigned sites.
- Manage employee injuries, monitor treatment, and return to work, as well as modified duty for recovering employees.
- Review SAFETY components in proposals, estimates, and project execution plans by supporting Proposal Kickoff Meetings, providing quantity & cost of resources, supporting customer Q&A, and providing negotiation support.
- Conduct on-site project SAFETY program evaluations.
- Facilitate investigations of serious accidents.
- Coordinate with Legal and Insurance Department representatives regarding SAFETY issues.
- Act as liaison between the corporate safety department and governmental agencies on matters relating to safety and health.
- Keep senior management informed on developments regarding safety and health.
- Coordinate, develop and present safety and health training programs.
- Maintain safety and health training and medical records.
- Provide input in the development and maintenance of the corporate environmental, health & safety program manual and procedures.
- Provide consultation to projects/sites regarding safety and health issues.
- Maintain safety and health statistics.
- Manage any third-party inspections and audits.
- Support cause map incident investigations in either a lead or support role utilizing cause map experience to drive level of investigation based on severity/frequency matrix found in SIMS.
- Perform other tasks as deemed necessary by safety leadership.
Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- 8+ years of Safety Operations experience
- Understanding of fundamental safety tracing concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Must be able to exercise discretion and independent judgment.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of Safety Operations experience
- Former experience working with Zachry Industrial, Inc.
- An associate’s or graduate/higher level degree in safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational health sciences, occupational and environmental health, or accredited certification in safety and health.
Physical Demands:
Employee will be required to communicate in person, via telephone, email, use of arm/hand steadiness, manual dexterity, finger dexterity, multi limb coordination, oral expression, and comprehension. May be required to lift, carry, and move objects safely. Ability and willingness to work in a hands-on environment and able to lift to 50 pounds.
Work Environment:
Will work in a general office environment. Capable of operating and functioning in a fast-paced work environment. Must possess a vision (corrected or uncorrected) that allows for clear visibility from 20 inches or less.
