ABB in Mechanicsville, VA is hiring a Quality Manager at our Motion Traction facility in Mechanicsville, VA. The Quality Manager deploys and leads the quality strategy for a local organizational unit, including quality culture, systems, tools,

and competent teams, with the aim to achieve and exceed customer expectations while ensuring sustainable

operations. Drives the local quality system through the right mix of prevention, continuous improvement, robust

root cause analysis, quick response, and sustainable solutions to problems. Coordinates the efforts of all

necessary local functions that impact the quality results to reach the targets for the organizational unit and aim

for world-class performance. Ensures that the necessary certification requirements are met throughout the

organization.

The work model for the role is: Onsite in Mechanicsville, VA.

Your role and responsibilities:

  • Leads the development and execution of the local quality management strategy, ensuring alignment with the quality management system, policy, and organizational objectives while fostering leadership commitment and effective communication.
  • Partners with management and cross‑functional teams to shape processes, embed customer-focused quality practices, and ensure the voice of the customer influences product and process design.
  • Establishes and maintains a closed-loop quality cycle—from product development through customer feedback—driving zero‑defect culture, risk-based thinking, and prevention-focused quality improvements.
  • Oversees quality system performance through data analytics, audits, and benchmarking to identify risks, non‑conformances, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Acts as process owner for assigned systems and tools, ensuring effective documentation, implementation, monitoring, and continuous enhancement of quality processes.
  • Drives resolution of customer cases, ensures effective corrective and preventive actions, and collaborates across units to deliver high customer satisfaction, cost efficiency, and flawless execution.

Qualifications for the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical discipline and 8+ years of experience in quality engineering and management.
  • Previous experience in leading a team of Quality Professionals.
  • Experience with Root Cause Analysis, Supplier, Production and Field Quality in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with various Quality Tools and Methodologies around inspection, auditing, CAPAs and other related areas.
  • Proficient with SAP or Similar ERP system, Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English with internal and external audiences.
  • Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Electronic Manufacturing Experience
  • Experience with Rail Traction Control Products and Projects.
