The Quality Manager is responsible for implementing and managing the project-specific Quality Program for high voltage EPC projects, including substations, transmission systems, and associated civil and electrical scopes. This role ensures all work is executed in accordance with contract requirements, engineering specifications, and AHV quality standards while supporting safe, efficient, and compliant project delivery.
Act as a representative of Applied High Voltage (AHV), promoting company standards, policies, and a culture of accountability, quality, and execution excellence.
Lead and manage the project Quality Program across all scopes including civil, structural, and high voltage electrical work.
Work closely with the Project Manager and Construction leadership to ensure QA/QC resources are effectively deployed and supported.
Oversee QA/QC Inspectors performing inspections, audits, surveillance, and testing in accordance with the project quality plan.
Ensure all work complies with project specifications, IFC drawings, codes, and contract requirements.
Drive quality performance across the project by identifying gaps, implementing corrective actions, and ensuring closure.
Lead investigations of non-conformances (NCRs) and ensure root cause analysis and corrective/preventative measures are implemented.
Develop, implement, and maintain the Project Quality Plan, including inspection test plans (ITPs), documentation requirements, and deliverable schedules.
Maintain and audit project quality records, ensuring completeness and compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
Provide training, mentoring, and oversight to QA/QC Inspectors and project personnel, including subcontractors.
Ensure subcontractors submit and adhere to their Quality Programs in alignment with AHV standards.
Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure alignment between design intent and field execution.
Support project administration to ensure work is executed in accordance with design, schedule, and budget objectives.
Proactively identify risks and resolve quality issues through direct communication and field presence.
Strong understanding of QA/QC processes for high voltage EPC construction, including substations and transmission infrastructure.
Working knowledge of construction codes, standards, and safety regulations (OSHA, NEC, NESC, IEEE, etc.).
Ability to read, interpret, and apply IFC drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
Strong problem-solving capability with the ability to identify issues and implement practical solutions.
Effective leadership and personnel management skills, including oversight of inspection staff.
Strong communication skills with the ability to interface with clients, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
High level of organization, time management, and attention to detail.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and project-based systems (e.g., document control, scheduling tools).
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, field-driven environment with limited supervision.
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
Minimum 2–5 years of QA/QC experience on large-scale industrial or infrastructure projects.
Experience in high voltage substation, transmission, or EPC projects strongly preferred.
Experience managing QA/QC personnel and project quality programs preferred.
Familiarity with SWPPP, site civil work, and erosion control is beneficial.
Experience with quality auditing and ISO-based systems is preferred.
