General Summary: The Quality Manager is responsible for the overall performance of the Quality function, ensuring products and processes meet established standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations. Responsible to lead and develop Quality department personnel while personally performing hands-on quality work — inspection, testing, root cause analysis, audit response, and problem resolution. The role drives continuous improvement initiatives, investigates and resolves nonconformances, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to maintain and improve quality performance.
What You Will Do (Essential Job Functions):
Quality Department Leadership & Operations
Performs hands-on quality tasks — inspection, testing, documentation review, and problem-solving — in addition to leading the department
Manages day-to-day operations of the Quality department and directly completes tasks/responsibilities as necessary (e.g., covering PTO, stepping in on the floor during peak workload or staffing gaps)
Owns hiring decisions for Quality department personnel
Trains, supervises, and reviews Quality department staff for skill level and performance
Builds and maintains a positive, collaborative working culture across the Quality department
Serves as the single point of accountability for the Quality department
Quality Management System & Documentation
Creates and maintains processes and procedures which clearly define workflow and tasks required in Quality Management System for ISO & AS-9100 certification
Responsible for compliance with APQP & PPAP documentation
Maintains secured Quality documentation that meets cyber security requirements
Quality Problem Resolution & Root Cause Analysis
Completes root cause analysis and implements corrective actions for process-related concerns
Resolves all manufacturing quality issues
Ensures timely resolution of Customer & Supplier issues per policy
Testing, Validation & Product Compliance
Responsible for all testing and validation required by customer
Interfaces with Engineering and Operations to ensure conforming product compliance
Audit Management
Manages customer and vendor Quality audits for compliance
Quality Strategy & Continuous Improvement
Owns the continuous improvement strategy for inspection processes, procedures, training, 5S, and auditing within the Quality department
Analyzes quality performance data and trends to identify improvement opportunities and drive measurable results
Recommends quality-related investments, tools, and process changes to the Sr. Director of Manufacturing & Engineering
External Relations & Site Visits
Performs site visits to suppliers & customers as required
Onboarding & Orientation
Participates in corporate on-boarding and orientation programs
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Bachelor’s degree in related discipline (may substitute three (3) years of previous quality related work experience)
Three (3) years of progressive work experience in a Quality-related role (AS9100 D and customer audit management experience preferred)
Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred
Previous experience working on a business system and with standard office software
