Position Summary: The Site Safety Coordinator is responsible for providing professional, site-level safety oversight on active construction projects. This role ensures compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety standards, and project-specific safety requirements while supporting field personnel through training, coaching, and daily engagement. The coordinator plays a critical role in hazard identification, incident prevention, and maintaining a strong safety culture across all assigned jobsites.

 

Essential Job Functions:

 

  • Site Oversight & Hazard Control
  • Conduct daily jobsite walkthroughs to identify hazards, unsafe conditions, or violations of company or OSHA standards.
  • Verify proper use of PPE, fall protection, tools, equipment, and electrical safety controls. 
  • Monitor high-risk work activities (elevated work, LOTO, energized work, confined spaces, lifting operations, etc.) and ensure all required permits, JHAs, and controls are in place.
  • Incident Prevention & Response
  • Lead investigations for incidents, near misses, and property damage events. 
  • Document findings, identify root causes, and track corrective actions to closure.
  • Communicate lessons learned to project teams and the Safety Manager. Training & Worker Engagement 
  • Conduct on-site orientations, toolbox talks, and focused safety training based on upcoming tasks. 
  • Provide real-time coaching to employees and subcontractors to reinforce safe work practices. 
  • Support company-wide safety initiatives, audits, and safety stand-downs. Documentation & Compliance 
  • Maintain site safety records including inspections, permits, logs, corrective actions, and required project documentation. 
  • Assist employees and subcontractors with completing Pre-Task Plans (PTPs), JHAs, lift plans, and other procedural documents. 
  • Verify subcontractor compliance with safety plan requirements and submitted documentation. Coordination & Communication
  • Participate in project planning meetings to review upcoming work phases and identify safety considerations. 
  • Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, and foremen to eliminate hazards before work begins. 
  • Support third-party inspections and regulatory audits when required.

Preferred Education and/or Experience

 

  • BCSP credentials such as CHST, OHST, CSHO, or related safety certifications. 
  • UTA Safety & Health Certification or equivalent recognized safety training program completion. 
  • Experience conducting safety training or leading safety meetings. 
  • Experience with incident reporting systems or digital safety platforms.

Required Attributes

The requirements listed below are representative of characteristics and demonstrated capabilities sought to perform this job successfully.

  • 5+ years of experience in construction safety, preferably within electrical or industrial construction environments. 
  • OSHA 30 required. 
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA standards, LOTO procedures, fall protection, equipment safety, and electrical safety principles. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with field employees, subcontractors, and leadership. 
  • Strong observational skills and ability to professionally enforce standards. 
  • Valid driver’s license with ability to travel between job sites as needed.
