Overview:

The HR/Safety Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Ergon Trucking Safety Department in an administrative role. This position reports to the Director of Safety & Compliance.

Summary of job functions:

  • Perform a variety of technical record keeping in the Safety department including but not limited to: DOT compliance, accidents, injuries, spills, citations, roadside inspections, training.
  • Create and maintain employee files. Review all hiring paperwork for inaccuracies and coordinate with managers to have corrections made.
  • Assist with the drug and alcohol program management and act as a liaison with the Ergon, Inc. DER and a third-party administration company.
  • Track and maintain files on expirations related to DOT compliance using paper and electronic methods.
  • Track and maintain files on any disciplinary action assigned by the corporate office.
  • Develop files for quarterly safety committee reviews including off-work reports and preventable collisions and spills reports.
  • Create and maintain spreadsheets for the quarterly bonus program and assist managers with ensuring bonuses are paid properly.
  • Review Drivers MVR's & coordinate annual review completions with drivers.
  • Perform DOT File audits.
  • Terminates employees files and sends out paperwork when required.
  • Responds to all employment verifications.
  • Coordinates weekly office schedules and monthly on-call calendars.
  • Supports the Ergon Trucking Corporate office in areas such as: managing office equipment repairs, maintaining Safety department materials, office supplies, processing check requests.
  • Supports all members of the Safety office as needed.
  • Acts as a backup to other administrative roles within the company.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by current manager.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Qualifications
  • Education
    • High School Diploma/GED
  • Experience
    • Three (3) years' administrative support role.
  • Skills
    • Intermediate skills in Excel, Word, Outlook, and related computer software.
    • Working knowledge of FMCSR as it relates to driver qualification and related compliance issues.
    • Strong organizational skills and ability to accomplish responsibilities with limited supervision.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
