Title: Field Safety Coordinator
Location: Northern CA, PNW


Wilson Construction Company (Wilson) has an immediate opening for a Field Safety Coordinator based out of our Canby office.  Extensive travel between Northern California through the Pacific Northwest. The Field Safety Coordinator for Wilson is responsible for ensuring on-site compliance with all applicable federal, state and local safety regulations. The Field Safety Coordinator reports to the Director of Safety and Training and coordinates their work activities with Construction Superintendents and Project Managers, and is responsible for performing the following essential duties and responsibilities, in addition to any other assigned duties:


Field Safety Coordinator Responsibilities: 
•    Conduct safety orientations for new employees and former employees returning to Wilson after an extended absence.
•    Coordinate new hire drug testing.
•    Administer the fall protection program and fit testing where applicable.
•    Administer employee training.
•    Assist with employee safety training program records (rosters).
•    Conduct at least one complete safety inspection (audit) for each jobsite visited and file electronic reports. Monitor as many job sites as possible on a weekly basis to ensure that safe practices are followed, and hazardous conditions are noted and eliminated.
•    Review Wilson truck/equipment safety inspection reports.
•    Investigate all incidents and near-miss reports and file reports as required.
•    Establish and review procedures for the treatment of injuries.
•    Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the injury and illness prevention program and all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to safety.
•    Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the hazards of every operation and how these hazards can be controlled. 
•    Review each task, analyze the potential hazards to be encountered, and determine the safeguards necessary to accomplish the work in a safe manner.
•    Make available all necessary personal protective equipment, job safety materials, first aid supplies, and emergency information.
•    Implement immediate corrective action whenever there is noncompliance with the safety program or federal, state, or local laws or regulations.
•    Meet with Superintendents/General Foremen and Foremen periodically to review accidents, near-misses, disciplinary actions taken, and safety suggestions.
•    Meet with Wilson management periodically to discuss incidents and incident trends, employee safety performance, safety suggestions, ways of improving the effectiveness of the safety program, and the training programs agenda. 
•    Set a good example by following good safety practices in all activities - particularly with respect to personal protective equipment and clothing.
•    Hold daily tailboard meetings. During these meetings, discuss jobsite accidents and near-misses, and allow each employee to offer safety suggestions.


Field Safety Coordinator Requirements: 

•    Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in the power line industry, or journeyman lineman certification.
•    Working knowledge of state and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) laws and regulations.
•    Current First Aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification.
•    Must be able to work outside.
•    Ability to communicate effectively with various levels of staff and personality types.
•    Desire and ability to learn the technical aspects of our industry.
•    Ability to walk and maneuver difficult terrain on jobsites.
•    Must have a valid state driver’s license.
