EHS Manager IIPosition Overview
Shaw Industries is hiring an EHS Manager to oversee the safety and environmental functions at the plant level and assist with Corporate-wide programs as needed.
The site maintains a Plant Emergency Operations (PEO) team responsible for coordinating responses to personal and process safety incidents, including compliance with Risk Management Plan (RMP) requirements. The EHS Manager is accountable for defining PEO response scenarios and ensuring the team is adequately staffed, trained, and prepared.
In addition, the EHS Manager supports the Management of Change (MOC) process to ensure personal and process safety considerations are incorporated into applicable process changes.
The EHS Manager will also ensure that the facility complies with federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations and all Shaw policies, procedures, and best practices.
Essential Duties:
Develop and implement all plant-specific EHS elements that relate to the Shaw Management System (SMS) within the facility.
Lead annual internal audits to monitor conformance to EHS requirements and to drive continuous improvement.
Develop, manage, and maintain all SMS system elements related to environmental and safety compliance that are applicable to the facility.
Ensure that all associate training meets the Environmental Handbook, SAFE Handbook, Federal, State, and Local regulations.
Champion, coach and promote the Advanced Safety Auditing (ASA) program.
Manage the performance of ASA and monitor metrics to ensure facility and management participation.
Serve as the liaison between facility management and Corporate Risk Management personnel to ensure effective EHS programs are in place and that all necessary training is being conducted.
Serve as the site expert on Incident Investigations related to associate injuries, near misses, chemical incidents, property damage, security, etc..
Become a proficient user of the RMIS EHS reporting system. Train facility personnel as needed to enter incident data. Monitor as necessary to ensure CAPAs are completed and all data has been entered.
Provide analysis of all data related to EHS performance at the facility. This would include analysis of injury trends, first aids, near-miss incidents, environmental permits (air, water), etc. Develop metrics to track and report to plant management.
Manage all life safety program elements to include: life safety code implementation, property insurance management, FM inspections, Fire Department visits/planning, etc..
Serve as site administrator for the Safetec SDS system.
Ensure that facility SDS are updated in the system.
Champion the site's new chemical approval process within the SDS system to ensure that all new chemicals are approved prior to introduction into the work environment.
Develop and implement applicable programs as outlined by the Shaw Environmental Handbook as well as other environmental regulatory programs applicable to the facility.
Conduct routine EHS and system audits to ensure compliance and support continuous improvement.
Report any concerns to appropriate facility and divisional resources.
Manage and track wastes associated with facility operations.
Ensure wastes are classified per RCRA and other solid wastes requirements.
Monitor generation rates and generator status.
Manage facility-specific environmental regulatory permits and plans (WWTP, Air, SWPPP, SPCC, etc.)
Ensure proper reporting per permit requirements.
Attend facility staff meetings and maintain open communications with facility management and DEHS resources related to facility EHS performance and efforts.
Ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures.
Serve as the key resource for facility EHS matters.
Must possess excellent presentation and communications skills.
Must be capable of managing multiple projects, ensure successful completion of business objectives and meet project deadlines.

Requirements:
4-year degree required.
Self-motivated and possess good organizational skills.

Proficiency to operate in a PC, windows based, environment; must have knowledge of Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook applications.

Must be able to work off-shift as necessary.
Travel to various facilities as needed (minimal).
Preferred Requirements:
The successful candidate should have Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) training.
